PRESS RELEASE

Looking for Gods.   Helen Norton.

“I am currently reaching back into some of the early gods, metaphors and symbols of human civilization.  Using these things that were carved out by us as tribal humans I am attempting to apply them to my own life. The applications begin to question things such as the sensibilities or non–sensibilities of multi-culturalisation, culture itself, religious fanatasisms, or any “isms or atics” indeed.  All these things just mentioned tend to, in their modern application today, isolate us as individuals from the overall “beat of the drum” of existence and our understanding of our meaning in the BIG PICTURE.
It is interesting to apply the myths and gods in an “open share-market” of images to develop a contrast or indeed an overlay of the concepts that were put forward back then as moral guidelines for human society.  There could be some clues to overcoming our confusion and idealism’s if we apply the early philosophies and primitive but basically solid tools of our trade to our occupation of life.   The gods, goddesses, goblins, creation myths, and underworlds were fraught with human faults, and perversities that we seem to think we should be judging ourselves against now.   Why when Zeus was a perpetual roving stud who married his sister after raping her should we think we are the image of God as we stand?   All the Gods had their “problems”, and it is time we worked out what the point is of moving past the obvious interpretations of their message and into the not so obvious of these myths as they were intended.   A cryptic puzzle is how it was proposed.  Very simple but definitively utilizing the way of thinking of the times, which was based on the way, the people lived, by myth and metaphor.
All religious texts were written as metaphors only.  In our current modern day mental typology or way of thinking the bulk of the population and the systems that run our lives in any place or culture in the world (because the bulk of the population put them there), are stuck on the literal interpretation of everything and the sensing experience of that interpretation.   If we continue to think like this there is bound to be trouble to the velocity of Zeus’s life.”
